What Is A Good Age To Start Learning the Guitar?
There is no one right answer to the question, often asked by parents as to when their child should start learning to play the guitar.
It all depends how comfortably your child can hold the guitar. He or she will also need to have strong fingers so that they can hold down the guitar strings.
The number one rule when it comes to getting your children to learn to play the guitar is that they enthusiasm to learn the guitar must come from your child and not you, the parent. Never force your child to learn a musical instrument if they don’t want to.
Another pre-requisite is that you find a guitar teacher who is good with kids, especially if you are getting your 5 year old to learn. Children tend to have short attention spans and want to give up easily, often being distracted by lots of different things.
A teacher who is experienced with children will know the right level to set the class at so that your child finds the lesson fun and exciting and wants to learn.
